Middle School Math

Tutoring Services

Course Overview

As students continue their mathematical journey into Middle School, they will begin to take on more complex concepts and learn more in-depth mathematical topics. Using the tools they have gathered in elementary school, students will now explore how they can analyze and interpret in a more sophisticated manner.

Tutoring Program

The standards for middle school math are as follows:

  • The Number System (6 – 8)
  • Ratios and Proportional Relationships (6 – 7)
  • Expressions and Equations (6 – 8)
  • Functions (8)
  • Geometry (6 – 8)
  • Statistics and Probability (6 – 8)

Our tutoring will give students the confidence and capability to excel in these intermediate steps of mathematics. Using the foundation built at the elementary level, students will learn how to apply their knowledge in more in-depth and complex problem solving scenarios. Along with many other skills and problem solving techniques, students will learn and be prepared to:

  • Understand ratios and rates to reason through and solve problems
  • Apply and expand previous knowledge to do more complex operations with fractions
  • Reason about and solve one-variable equations and inequalities
  • Represent and analyze quantitative relationships between dependent and independent variables
  • Solve real-world and mathematical problems involving area, surface area, and volume
  • Develop understanding of statistical variability and distributions
  • Know that there are irrational numbers and work with radicals and integer exponents
  • Analyze and solve linear equations and pairs of simultaneous linear equations
  • Define, evaluate, and compare functions and model relationships
  • Understand and apply the Pythagorean Theorem
