Dr. Bates has over 15 years of teaching experience at the secondary, undergraduate, and graduate levels in History, Social Studies, interdisciplinary studies, and education. He holds a Ph.D. in Education and Curriculum Studies, a master’s degree in education from DePaul University, and currently owns an Illinois secondary education teaching license. He specializes in teaching US History (regular, honors, and AP), European History (AP), World History (standard, honors), study and time management skills, social science research, and writing skills. He believes “through a student-centered learning environment; the student will learn the skills that make them successful at being a better student and learner.”
